Maybe I'm too dumb to understand what it's actually trying to say or do, but things like the Learned English Dog or the invisible mechanical duck. Then there's all the absurdist stuff happening. I guess it's just meant to be a broad trawl through American and British culture, but it rarely seems to draw any conclusions or discuss stuff in any real depth. It seems to just be loosely following Mason and Dixon as they encounter random events.

He will discuss certain subjects without having the characters stop to explain it. He's also not afraid to let the audience learn on their own. I actually took a break at one point and read some random excerpts from Gravity's Rainbow and even out of context his writing style is fantastic. I'll get the positives out of the way first: his writing style is phenomenal at times.
